||I have decided to part with my double bass, a Hawkes Concert model made around 1918 probably in Germany. This has a full swell back, broad shoulders with the classic violin shape based on the unsurpassable form of Vincenzo Panormo's instruments. The bass, being over 100 years old, has survived well, having been repaired/restored recently by reputable luthiers and produces a full, rich and powerful tone ideally suited to both orchestral and jazz performance. These instruments change hands at between £15,000 and £25,000 and I am willing to look at offers of over £16,500 to achieve a quick sale. It comes with a soft case and an Underwood-style pickup. If interested please telephone me any time day or night.
