Saxophones Selmer Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone. 90xxx range serial number (circa 1960). A superb example of a Selmer Mark VI alto from the ‘holy grail’ five-digit production era. Original and very largely intact lacquer. Silver-plated keys, mother-of-pearl touches uncracked and hardly worn. Superficial crack to plastic left thumb rest. Neck tenon, keywork, posts and springs all tight, with no resoldering. Solid intonation. A fantastic lead/solo alto, being sold by former National Youth Jazz Orchestra and semi-pro player. Maintained and repadded for me by Willie Garnett in London shortly before I stopped playing altogether in 2001. Despite having been in its case permanently since then, it’s in full working order and great playing shape. All pads clean, in good condition and fully sealing from top to bottom. Price includes matte red Berkeley of London moulded fibreglass case, saxophone stand with clarinet/flute attachment, and two mouthpieces: a Meyer 5M, medium channel, lapped facing (worth about £80), and a Bilger Morgan 4M 9940 (worth about £65, hardly played), both in excellent condition. A complete lead alto set-up, in other words, but I will also sell the saxophone in its case separately if preferred. More photos can be sent on request, including specific details. Buyer must collect in person (Norwich city centre, 110 miles from London and 110 minutes by train from Liverpool Street). Cash only. £4400 ono +44 (0)7766 978978
